This spider looks very similar to the Sorting Hat spider (Eriovixia gryffindori) first discovered in India in 2016 [1]. The newly indetified Eriovixia gryffindori was widely reported back in late 2016 as it was named after the owner of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter novel.

One of this spider (picture below) was found mimicking a thorn on the underside of a leaf of the Sea Holly (Acanthus ebracteatus), which happened to be a thorny plant.
